4 Ways to Get Your Passion Back
If life has become routine and you don’t jump out of bed in the morning excited for the day, you might have lost your passion. You deserve to live a life filled with magic and wonder where each day is filled with new possibilities and there is no reason your life can’t be that way.
We all have spells we go though when life seems to stop working for us and if it happens, it might be just a plateau and things will shift naturally. However, if you continue for months on end not experiencing joy and delight in your life, it’s time to make some changes.
Here are 4 Ways to Get Your Passion Back:
1.Do things backwards. Shake up your routine. Even eating with your non-dominant hand, driving a different route to work, or shifting your schedule to do things in a different order ( I suggest eating dessert first ;)) can light up new pathways in your brain and get your creativity flowing. You’ll start thinking new thoughts which creates new experiences.
2. Go on a trip. Get out of your familiar places and routines. It will wake up your senses and make you feel more alive. If you don’t believe you can afford to take a trip right now, then plan one. Lots of studies have shown that planning a trip makes you happier even if you don’t take it. Your research will open you up to new possibilities.
3. Watch a movie. Not just any movie but one that inspires you. Many movies that raise my vibration and after I watch one I’m fired up to stay up all night and work on some new project. Some of my favorite motivational movies are: The Kid, The Lake House, Maleficent, Yes Man, Forrest Gump, 50 First Dates, Legally Blonde, and Pitch Perfect. You will notice none of these movies are “motivational” but I love the positive energy I get from them. They inspire me to dive into living my own life. Your list of movies might be totally different just find ones that you connect with. Don’t forget to listen to music and read books that light you up, too!
4. Take action. If you know what you want to do but you are afraid to take action and you procrastinate day after day, it will eventually suck the joy out of your life. We’ve all heard that we will regret the chances we didn’t take more than the ones we did. It’s cliché because it’s true. Take action towards your dreams, even if you need make baby steps.
If these four steps don’t work then you may have some deeper work to do.
Are you doing something in your life that matters to you?
NO technique will make you happy for very long if you are living your life in a way that is not satisfying to you. Spend some time asking yourself important questions:
How do I want to be remembered after I’m gone?
What do I want my legacy to be?
What makes me smile?
How do I enjoy spending my time?
What can I do that no one else can?
How can I best serve the world?
If you aren’t living in a way that makes a difference in the world or that you won’t look back on and say “Wow, those were some good years,” I’d invite you to consider making some changes in how you spend your time. You don’t have to quit your job or move across the country tomorrow but make little changes one at a time unless it feel good to make a big leap. If it does then go for it! You are worthy of living a life that you feel passionate about. Start living it now!
