Want a fun way to boost your abundance?

OK, so the short answer is hire someone. Before you click out of this post thinking you can’t afford to hire anyone, wait and let me explain. I learned this concept, when my husband and I started a business when we had only been married a year and while we ran it by ourselves for a few months we quickly learned we had to have some help. It was scary at first. Were we doing it right? What if we failed and messed up our employee’s cash flow when they were without a job? What is we hired the wrong person? Who were we to hire employees? The thing was, yes, we did make some mistakes, but the biggest lesson I learned was this: when you hire someone you are blessing both them and yourself.

When you hire someone, you both benefit. You are sharing of your abundance and they are sharing of their time and abilities. It can boost the money you make because you have more freed up time and you also have that abundant feeling of helping someone else get money and satisfaction from doing a job.

We’re obviously not all interested in running a business, but many of us are and those of who aren’t would still like more time to enjoy life, I’m assuming.  So play along with me for a minute. Don’t think about the fact that you don’t think you have enough money to hire someone, but think about what things you don’t like to do that you could pay someone else to do. Don’t pay someone to do things you love. I once hired someone to watch my daughter while I worked in the office. It lasted three days. Then I hired someone to work in the office while I played with me daughter. Result: happy me, happy kid and the office stuff got done.

If this is your first time hiring someone, just think of one little thing that someone could help you with. I’ve hired people to do so many things over the years beyond just working at our business. We hired people to do laundry, clean house, run errands, plant flowers, tutor kids, grocery shop, help with homeschooling, etc. The fun thing is that you can hire someone to do a one time event for you or on an ongoing basis. Maybe your garage needs cleaned out and organized, but you dread doing it. Maybe you need a room painted. Maybe you want to send out birthday cards to all your friends for then next year but don’t want to address and mail them.  Hire someone to do it for you or at least to help you do it.

What if you hate to cook and there’s a retired lady in your neighborhood who would love to come and cook up a few meals for you each week? What if you hate going to the grocery store and there’s a teenager, who would love to shop for you. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to hire someone. Based on your budget, you can almost always find someone in your price range. I’ve found teenagers, retired people and stay at home moms with kids in school often love to do jobs in exchange for extra cash. You can even barter for services and exchange them with each other. Then, you give each other the opportunity to spend time doing what you love and have someone else to something you like less.

Often the people I hired loved doing the jobs and did them better than I could have or would have and I had more time to do the things I loved to do and in the long run I seem to have more abundance when I share mine and free up time to work on new projects in the process.

You can, also, hire your kids or maybe even your parents. I pay my oldest daughter to babysit several hours I week while I run errands that I don’t want to take the whole family along for. She gets to keep part of her pay and the other part goes in savings for a car or college. It’s a win/win.

If you are worried about the taxes, in the US at least there are some online companies who will take care of all of that for you and if you just hire someone occasionally for a few odd jobs you shouldn’t have to worry about it unless it’s over a certain amount. Speaking of taxes, I’ve seen people spend days pulling their hair out while doing their taxes themselves, when they could have paid someone who loves doing taxes. They could have made the money to pay for having the taxes done by doing something they loved for a few days instead of spending the time pulling their hair out over tax paperwork.

What are You Telling the Universe When You Hire Someone?

  • You have enough abundance to share
  • You have passions that you are taking the time to fulfill (even if it’s just that you need time to take a nap)
  • You trust that other people can do tasks as competently as you
  • You know how to manage your resources
  • You love yourself enough to get the help you need

Those are some pretty good affirmations to boost your abundance. Sometimes I had to take a leap of faith to hire someone, but I’ve always been rewarded with more abundance when I do from a place of wanting to bless us both.

Try it today. You don’t have to be wealthy. Maybe start with paying a friend to pick up lunch or run errands for you while you spend that time writing or mediating, etc. I love giving gifts to people but hiring someone is another way to bless them and bless yourself.

I’d love to hear thoughts you have on hiring others or any comments you may have. To prove it, I’m giving away a copy of my new e-book, Personal Alchemy, and an Angel Card Reading to one of my commenters during the month of April. I’ll put everyone’s name in random.org and choose a winner to be announced here around May 1st. Then the winner can e-mail me to claim their prize. Watch this space as I’ll be changing up my give-aways this year. Some months it’ll be oils and maybe crystals and some months it will be some of my new products and classes that are coming soon!

So true, Michelle. Our time on Earth is precious, and we need to make sure that whatever we do is aligned with our truth and with what we enjoy. Thank you!

  • Cloris, you are right. I don’t think we will regret giving ourselves time to do what we love and blessing others in the process.
